The only reason I went into all the "dissertation" was due to his comment regarding all is ok unless you have a computer "crash". However, as I mentioned to Lyle, I always have System Backup image files (plus user file backups) that I use to restore when the need arises. There must be a "buried" counter value involved that didn't allow it to work. It was some time ago so don't remember the title but even back then I have tried to use the date setback that did not work. The image puts everything back as it was the day you made the image. Just as Lyle said, if you make a complete image of your HDD then it will not effect the install. There is another trick to get the software installed again, just set your date back to the day the software was installed before and it will install again. Lylejk, thanks for your replies and comments. For re-installed/repair OS, it may affect it if the re-install messes with the settings in your registry. If you do image backup/restore, no affect at all (happened to me when I had to do just that for my Win7 box). These image and data backups are no more than 2 weeks apart - with Data being each day. Otherwise, the backups have "saved the day" with successful Restores of everything as of date of the Backup. When I also added Win 7 Pro 64 bit to the system (using a different hard drive) I then had to do a normal (laborious) installing of both the OS as well as ALL applications since the image files could not be used to restore to the new OS setup. Thankfully, this has worked well now for many years without losing even ONE file. I make current backups for both "System backup" and User files and folders backup using 3 different hard drives with one kept off site in my Lock Box. However, what affect would that have on a user that does System backups to image files for their computer which (of course) would backup the installed OS plus ALL installed software. I understand that type of installer is like "triple protection" for the Author against software piracy. In other words, tomorrow, you won't be able to install it using GAOTD's installer.
